10-year-old Killed in Highway Workzone
Girard – A 10-year-old child was killed in a crash on Interstate 90 Monday afternoon. The crash happened in Girard Township, Erie County shortly after 2:30 while cars were queued up to wait their turn to drive through a work zone; a Freightliner truck crashed into the SUV owned by a family from Ontario Canada – the SUV rolled onto its passenger side and collided with two other vehicles. Everyone inside the SUV was hospitalized and the child was unfortunately declared dead at the scene of the crash. It is unknown if charges will be filed against the driver of the truck.
Free Sunscreen at more PA State Parks
Harrisburg – Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has expanded a program that offers free sunscreen to visitors of state parks. Shapiro added 13 more parks to the program, which began in 2017 increasing the number to 43 parks which includes Presque Isle in Erie. The sunscreen is SPF 30 offered at battery operated dispensers and is paid for by a Department of Health Cancer Prevention Fund. An entire list of all state parks offering free sunscreen can be found online by visiting the DCNR website.
