Fire Response Up in Smoke
Meadville – Meadville Central Fire Department responded to a fire call earlier this week when the first floor of a downtown business building was filled with smoke. After searching high and low in the building itself and two adjacent structures they discovered the smoke resulted from an improperly cleaned heating system. Meadville Central, two Volunteer Departments from West Meade, and the Meadville Police and Auxiliary responded to the scene; they would all like to remind you to ensure your heating systems are properly cleaned and maintained before you turn them on for the colder months.
DUI Charges in Crash
Conneaut Lake – A Meadville man is charged with DUI after crashing his car in Conneaut Lake. According to police, the driver of a car suffered minor injuries when he was too intoxicated to make a right turn on Route 18 on the Conneaut Lakeshore and collided with a guard rail Monday. The Driver was unrestrained and a passenger in the car was buckled in and uninjured.
Bridge Re-Opens
Hydetown –The bridge that carries Thompson Street over Oil Creek in Hydetown was reopened yesterday after months of closure for repairs. The bridge was subjected to a major overhaul of the deck, barriers, supports, and road approaches.
Million Dollar Settlement Over Security Breach
Harrisburg – Attorney General Michelle Henry has a $1,000,000 settlement with the Pennsylvania based convenience store chain Rutter’s over a 2018 data breach that exposed more than 1.3 million resident’s credit card information. As part of that settlement, Rutter’s will be required to implement multiple security measures and undergo random assessments to ensure compliance with PA consumer protection laws.

Oil City – The Oil City Public Library is hosting a screening of the film STAY ALIVE as part of an after-hours horror night for teenagers between 13 and 18 years old.
