Man Charged with Fraud in 2022 Election
Pittsburgh – 33 separate charges of fraud and identity theft have been filed against a Pittsburgh area man in relation to the 2022 congressional election. 64-year-old Kirk Rice was an election canvasser in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District. According to PA Attorney General Michelle Henry, Rice falsified dozens of records by forging signatures and addresses in a bid to get their candidate a spot on the primary ballot; among the falsified signatures was a Federal Judge named Cathy Bissoon.
“Instead of working to obtain legal signatures, the defendant allegedly took the easy way out and falsified much of the information that secured a ballot spot for the candidate he represented. This case is a reminder that interfering with Pennsylvania’s election process is a very serious matter and will always be treated that way by this office,” said AG Henry.
The candidate he supported, Steve Irwin, is listed as one of the victims in this case and according to sources has been fully cooperating with investigators; he lost a very close 2022 democratic primary race to Summer Lee who eventually won the district.
