Fatal Crash
Fort LeBouef – Five people were hospitalized and one killed in a three car collision in Erie County’s LeBouef Township.  On Sunday afternoon at about 1 p.m. on Route 97, police say a Union City woman lost control of her SUV and hit two other vehicles that were traveling in the opposite lane.  The out-of-control driver was injured and taken to UPMC Hamot; two women and a teenage girl in the second vehicle were also taken to UPMC Hamot; and the passenger of the third vehicle was also hospitalized. The third vehicle’s driver, 24-year-old Ethan Johnson of Titusville, was declared dead at the scene of the crash by a deputy coroner and the entire incident is still being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police.

State Senate Approves Armed School Security
Harrisburg – Pennsylvania’s State Senate voted along nearly party lines on Wednesday, passing a bill that seeks to require school districts to hire at least one armed security officer to patrol the building during school hours. Senate Bill 907 is one of several attempts by republican Senator Mike Regan of York and Cumberland Counties to enact a policy like this since the Sandy Hook Shootings in 2012; it will likely face an uphill battle in the House of Representatives which Democrats control. One of the primary sticking points is that if passed it would cost each public school in the state around $100,000 a year in salary and benefits, even with assistance from the Commonwealth. A spokesperson for Governor Josh Shapiro said the Governor was opposed to the bill.
