Airborne Crash Injures Woman and Child
Tionesta – A woman and her five-year-old child were both hospitalized when their car went airborne after hitting an icy patch of road in Venango County. Crash scene investigators say that Heaven Daugherty of Tionesta and her child were traveling along Route 62 in President Township when her car began to slide on ice, Heaven overcorrected which caused the car to slide into a ditch, and then bounce out of that ditch and travel about 40ft through the air. The vehicle hit a boulder and then rolled one time before coming to a stop. Both mother and daughter were taken to UMPC Northwest.
VFW Post 7599 Total Loss After Fire
Reynolds – A VFW post in Mercer County has been called a total loss after a fire gutted the building yesterday morning. A three-alarm fire began at VFW Post 7599 in Reynolds around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday morning and despite the best efforts of firefighters from multiple departments using 300,000 gallons of water, it could not be stopped in time. The post has about 800 members and plans are already being made to build a new structure, in the meantime, a pavilion across the street will serve as their temporary headquarters.
