AG Warns of Fake Eclipse Glasses Scam
Harrisburg – Michelle Henry, Pennsylvania’s Attorney General, has issued a warning to Commonwealth residents to be wary of fraudsters selling fake eclipse viewing glasses that will not protect your eyes if you look at the sun next Monday.  The only safe way to view the solar eclipse is either indirectly using something like a shadowbox or through filters on special safety lenses that are marked with the official international safety standard certification number ISO 12312-2. Lenses without those numbers are unsafe and you can suffer significant harm to your eyes by looking at the sun through them. If you believe someone sold you a fake pair of solar eclipse glasses, call the PA Consumer Protection Hotline at 1-800-441-2555 or email at scam@attorneygeneral.gov.
