Botched Murder Suicide in Butler County
Valencia – Authorities in Butler County are investigating a shooting that they believe was an attempted murder-suicide in Valencia. On Saturday afternoon Adams Township Police responded to an emergency at a home on Presidential Lane where they discovered a man and a woman, both 48, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a nearby hospital where the woman was listed as stable and the man as in critical condition. An investigation is underway, and police have not stated which of the two was the shooter.
Woman Slashes Man, Kicks Police Officer in Groin
Erie – An Erie County man and woman were arrested on Saturday morning for a violent domestic disturbance. Antonio Evans and Jody Kowalczyk have both been charged with assault after police responded to the scene of the two fighting on Friday night. Kowalczyk is also charged with further crimes, she faces felony charges for lacerating her boyfriend’s arm with a sharp object and also for allegedly kicking a state trooper in the groin during an escape attempt. Evans was released on an unsecured bond while Kowalczyk remains in Erie County Jail.
Punxsutawney Phil Reveals Names of Children
Punxsutawney – In something more lighthearted, the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club announced the names of Phil’s two pups that were born in March. To celebrate Mother’s Day, the Groundhog Club read a proclamation that declared Phil and his groundhog wife Phyllis had decided to name their daughter Sunny and their son Shadow. The president and vice president of the club then took the opportunity to wish a happy Mother’s Day to everyone. The names were chosen based on suggestions submitted online.
Local Fugitive Captured
Vinto, VA –A wanted fugitive from Venango County was arrested in Vinton Virginia yesterday. 31-year-old Anthony Martinez Young was captured by members of the US Marshall Service and the Virginia State Police 12 days after he allegedly shot at a Pleasantville man multiple times over some kind of dispute on May 1st. Young is currently being held in Roanoke City Jail until he can be extradited back to Pennsylvania to face trial for attempted homicide.
Police Solve Interstate Murder Mystery
Erie – A suspect was found in the November 2023 murder of a Nashville woman in Erie County. On November 10th, the remains of 48-year-old Michelle Tayse of Nashville Tennessee were found burning on the side of Interstate 90 in the city of Erie, she had been killed by multiple stab wounds. Investigators have connected the death to a 60-year-old truck driver named LaMont Bland, who was killed by police officers in Indianapolis after he abducted another woman and held her at knifepoint in the cab of his truck on November 30th. Michelle’s DNA was found in his truck and GPS records show he was in Nashville during the abduction and Erie when she was found dead. The case has been closed.
