Cyclist Hit by Corvette
Cochranton – A cyclist from New Jersey was hospitalized in Crawford County’s East Fairfield Township after they were hit from behind by a car that police say they cut in front of. Naveen Reddy of Hightstown New Jersey was injured near the intersection of Route 322 and McCracken Road. Investigators say that Reddy rode his cycle out in front of a 1976 Corvette Stingray that was traveling south on 322 and never signaled to the driver about his turn; the motorist slammed on their brakes in an attempt to avoid a collision, leaving 60 feet of tread marks on the road before hitting Reddy from behind and knocking him off the bike onto the hood of the car where he spilled onto the highway.

Owens not in Attendance at Arraignment
New Castle – Suspected child murderer Alesia Owens opted not to appear in Lawrence County Court during her formal arraignment this week.  Owens was remanded to Lawrence County Jail and denied bail after her arrest on January 11th under the suspicion that she deliberately poisoned her boyfriend’s baby girl, one-year-old Iris Alfera. Iris died after ingesting a number of poisonous substances that Owens had spent excessive amounts of time researching online. Judge Dominic Motto formally arraigned Owens in absentia on charges of criminal homicide, attempted homicide, aggravated assault of a child, and child endangerment.

Fallen PA Soldier Returns Home
Connelsville – On the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion a Pennsylvania man killed in World War II was finally sent on his way home. Army Private 1st Class Harry J. Hosfelt Junior was Killed in Action on February 9th, 1944, while fighting in Italy and remained unidentified until last year by using dental records and mitochondrial DNA testing. Hosfelt will find his final resting place in Connellsville Pennsylvania, Fayette County.
