Manhunt Ends in Death of Armed Suspect
Cranberry Township – A man who spurred a massive search in Butler County’s Cranberry Township on Tuesday is dead after being found by police. The man, whose name has not been released, was spotted near the Cranberry Highlands Golf Course acting incoherently and with a broken down vehicle that witnesses say was full of weapons, employees of the course called the police. The Cranberry Township Police located the vehicle and after finding the man missing, a stash of weapons, and written threats to the public, they asked residents to shelter in place while they and elements of other police forces searched the area. The shelter in place order was ended at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon; police reported that the subject of the manhunt was deceased, but have not said whether he was killed by a police officer or took his own life.
Robbery at a Motel
Summit Township – In Erie County, the Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the theft of wallets, cash, and phones from two women staying in a motel on Route 97. According to a press release, one of the women told police that she felt someone touching her in her sleep at a motel in Summit Township and woke up to find an unknown man lying in bed next to her. When she confronted him he tried to say he was a friend of the other woman but then fled the room when she called for her roommate. The victims discovered the man had taken their wallets, phones, and some cash. The victim’s identities are being protected and police did not provide the name or address of the motel. PA Settles with SoLo Funds Inc
Harrisburg – Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Michelle Henry announced that the commonwealth has reached a settlement agreement with California-based lending company SoLo Funds Inc. The company will pay nearly $200,000 in fines and restitution for violations of Pennsylvania law and also cancel about $580,000 of fees and interest owed by Pennsylvania residents. Pennsylvania consumers who borrowed funds through the SoLo will receive further communications if they are eligible for a restitution payment. Consumers who believe they may have been harmed by SoLo Funds should file a complaint online, contact the Office of Attorney General by phone at 1-800-441-2555 or by email at scams@attorneygeneral.gov.
