George M Hummer County Forest Naming Ceremony
Centerville – A ribbon cutting and name-changing ceremony will be held for the newly renamed George M Hummer County Forest at 10:30 on Friday morning. Formerly just called the Crawford County Forest, the 436-acre forest which is just north of Hydetown, was purchased in 1937 at the insistence of then County Commissioner George Hummer, who was passionate about the outdoors. Last year the County Commissioners decided to rename the forest in his honor. The ceremony will take place this Friday at 15284 Greytown Road in Centerville at around 10:30 in the morning.

Child Endangerment Charges Filed Over Marijuana Overdose
Sharon – In Mercer County, two sisters are facing child endangerment and other charges after small children devoured nearly an entire package of marijuana edibles. Cassandra and Charyssa Gera have been charged by authorities in Sharon after an incident in June where they called poison control about two small children, four and five years of age who were found unconscious and vomiting, they told police they didn’t know what they had taken. Both victims were airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh and kept in the ICU because of respiratory distress caused by an overdose of THC. A warranted search revealed the children had devoured nearly an entire package of candies that were spiked with THC as well as a large number of other edibles and marijuana projects.
The children suffered from acute marijuana intoxication from an overdose of THC in their bodies, a condition that children under 12 years old are particularly prone to but is still possible in teenagers and adults as well. The overdose can cause vomiting and also affects consciousness and breathing, and may even cause a victim to fall into a coma.
