DUI Driver Injures One in Crash
Barkeyville – A young man from Butler County man was injured in a Venango County collision late Friday night. The Pennsylvania State Police say that a 20-year-old man from Butler, whose name has been redacted, suffered injuries of unknown severity when the jeep he was a passenger in hit a pickup operated by a suspected DUI driver just north of Barkeyville.  Police say the crash happened just before 10:30 on Friday night, the suspected DUI drove through a stop sign and pulled onto Route 8 from Old Route 8 causing the crash. The driver and passenger of the pickup were both 19 and showed signs of alcohol intoxication. The driver has been charged with crimes related to DUI and underage drinking.

Dozens of Cats and Dogs Rescued in Erie County
Erie – On Monday, ANNA Shelter began a complex rescue operation in Erie County after being contacted by the Pennsylvania State Police.  Two small dogs, and possibly 100 or more cats were being hoarded along with piles of detritus in a single-occupant home. The homeowner has been removed from the situation to receive medical help and since then ANNA has removed both dogs and at least 42 cats from the scene; they were also working to remove more animals on Tuesday and again today. The animals are receiving needed care and attention and ANNA is seeking donations of food, litter, and even money to help with the rescue operation.

Victim Shot in Broad Daylight
Sharon – In Mercer County police are investigating a daytime shooting in Sharon. At about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday morning one person was struck by gunfire on George Street near the intersection with South Oakland Avenue. The victim was taken to a trauma center for treatment and at press time we have no updates on their status. President and Vice President of Fraternity Plead Guilty to 2017 Death
Bellefonte – In state news, seven years after the event, two people have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges in relation to the 2017 death of Timothy Piazza at Penn State University. At the Center County Court of Common Pleas, Brendan Young and Daniel Casey, the former President and Vice President of the Penn State University Chapter of Beta Theta Pi finally dropped numerous appeals and pleaded guilty to 14 counts of hazing and a count of reckless endangerment. The hazing death of Timothy Piazza from alcohol intoxication and injuries from multiple falls led to the dissolution of the Beta Theta Pi chapter at Penn State and also stronger anti-hazing laws in the Commonwealth.
