OH Governor Declares State of Emergency
Columbus – A line of severe storms that passed through Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania on Tuesday are the cause of a State of Emergency in Ohio. On Saturday, Ohio Governor Mark DeWine declared a state of Emergency in eight Northeast Ohio counties including Trumbull and Ashtabula after tens of thousands of residents were still without electricity five days after the storms. Ohio Emergency Management Director Sima Merick has contacted FEMA and asked them to survey the area and conduct a damage assessment. In addition to Trumbull and Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Portage, and Summit Counties are all included in the declaration.

Franklin – Active Aging and the Pennsylvania State Police are reminding people to be vigilant about scams and fraudsters after two Venango County residents were scammed out of a combined total of more than $13,000 during the month of July. In one case, a 21-year-old Cooperstown man lost $4,400, and in another, a Titusville woman lost $8,800; scammers misled both victims into believing they were in contact with a person who was from a reputable organization. Protect yourself by remembering that businesses and federal agencies will not ask individuals to send payments through cryptocurrencies or gift cards.
