VCJ Inmate Cause of Death
Franklin – Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh released an official cause of death for an inmate at Venango County Jail. 20-year-old Zachary Sutley of Oil City was found deceased in Venango County Jail on the morning of Sunday, August 11th. The Coroner’s report says that an autopsy performed by Dr. Todd Luckasevic of Erie determined the cause of death was asphyxiation due to hanging. Sutley was in jail awaiting trial for shoplifting in November of 2023; there is no word about whether this is being treated as a suspicious incident.

Company Pleads No Contest to Environmental Law Charges
Harrisburg – Attorney General Michelle Henry announced that a natural gas company in Western Pennsylvania pleaded no contest to violations of environmental laws. Greylock Production LLC pleaded to four counts of Clean Streams Act violations and two Solid Waste Management Act violations for its actions in Greene County between 2015 and 2020. The Commonwealth alleges that Greylock knowingly built and maintained faulty wells that polluted the soil and local freshwater sources and Greylock will pay around $150,000in fees and fines after pleading. One Greylock management employee, John Sollen Jr, is awaiting trial on criminal charges.
