Bodies ID’d in two Local Counties, Third Remains Elusive
Northwest PA – Human remains that were discovered in Cornplanter Township, Venango County last month have been identified as those of 44-year-old Kathleen Sloan who had been missing since December of last year. Forensic anthropologists at Mercyhurst University are in possession of her skeleton and are determining a cause of death; she was identified using dental records. Other human remains that were recently discovered submerged in the Allegheny River near West Hickory in Forest County have also been identified; they belong to 51-year-old Christopher Smith of Warren who had been reported missing since January. The Forest County Coroner also identified him through dental records.
In Meadville, officials are still trying to identify the remains of a man who was discovered in French Creek on Thursday, October 3rd. So far they have not been able to determine an identity for the individual and have been searching through missing person’s reports, and comparing dental records and fingerprints in the quest for an identity. The man was approximately in his 30’s, about 6 feet tall, and estimated to be between 180-190 pounds; he had brown hair and was wearing a shirt, jacket, pants, and socks, but lacked shoes.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Crawford County Coroner’s office at (814)763-4544.

Robbery Suspect Arrested
Erie – A 19-year-old Erie man has been arrested in connection to the September robbery of a gas station and charged with robbery and assault. Razhier J. Roberts is being held in Erie County Jail with $250,000 bail after his arrest for the September 5th Robbery of Kwik Fill on East Lake Road. Authorities say that shortly after 9 p.m. Roberts entered the Kwik Fill and tackled the woman working there before hitting her with an object and leaving with the cash register drawer.

Woman Charged for Assaulting Cop
Oil City – An Oil City woman has been charged with assaulting a police officer after a physical struggle with OCPD officers. Police say Breontai Gates refused to speak with officers when they responded to calls about a disturbance on the 100 block of Crawford Street in which she was allegedly involved. They say that eventually, the situation devolved until the officers attempted to arrest her and she struggled against them, causing one officer to fall and hit his head. Gates was released on unsecured bond after her arraignment and will be represented in court by a public defender.

Man Unharmed After Helicopter Crash
North East – An 82-year-old man was uninjured after crashing a helicopter near North East on Thursday. Douglas Duer of Erie has been flying aircraft for more than six decades, he was doing a demonstration flight of a helicopter when the aircraft suddenly pitched on its side and crashed into the ground. Fortunately, Duer’s elevation was only about 10 feet at the time of the crash and he didn’t suffer any injuries.
