Coroner IDs Woman Killed by Plow
Meadville – A 19-year-old woman was killed by a PennDOT plow truck in Crawford County on Friday night. In West Meade Township at about 7:15 p.m. a woman was struck by the plow blade of a PennDOT truck as she was walking along the shoulder of Route 27 just outside of Meadville. According to Crawford County Coroner Eric Coston, she was killed instantly by blunt force Trauma to the head. On Saturday, Coston revealed the victim was named Nicole Smith. The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the incident and have not revealed the name of the plow’s operator.
SCI Albion Inmate Dies
Albion – An investigation into the cause of death of an inmate at SCI Albion is completed. 34-year-old Nicholas Martin was declared dead shortly before 9 p.m. on Sunday, December 1st after prison staff attempted life-saving measures when he was found unresponsive in his cell. Martin was serving a life sentence for a first-degree murder conviction in Elk County. Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook ruled the death was a suicide.
