Woman Sought for New Year’s Shooting
Erie – A woman has been named as the suspect in the New Year’s Day homicide in Erie. Authorities are looking for an Erie resident named Shakeyah Barnes, who at press time has not been seen since the shooting took place nearly two weeks ago. Detectives from the Erie Police Department suspect that it was Barnes, also known as ‘Red’, who shot Jalae Turner and another victim at around 12:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Anyone with information on her whereabouts should contact Detectives David Madurski or Ronald Pilarski of the Major Crimes Unit at (814)870-1229.
20-year-old Jalae Turner was leaving an invitation-only New Year’s Eve party when someone fired three shots at her and a 22-year-old man at 12:37 a.m. New Year’s Day; Jalae was struck one time in the head and died that afternoon. Witnesses at the party confirmed that there was a fight between Barnes and Turner before the shooting happened and evidence suggests that Barnes was the shooter. Detective Sergeant David Madurski can be reached at (814)720-1229 and Detective Ronald Pilarski can be reached at (814)720-1508.

Sharon Regional Under New Management
Sharon PA – Sharon Regional Medical Center was acquired by Tenor Health Systems in a surprise sale on Friday afternoon. The Texas bankruptcy court approved the last-minute sale of the Hospital for $1.9 million on Friday after an offer from Meadville Medical Center fell through and favored it over a $2.4 million offer from Yates Medical Group. It’s unclear when operations can resume because Tenor must make a new lease agreement with Medical Properties Trust, which owns the land the hospital sits on. Sharon Regional Employees are guaranteed pay and benefits through the hospital’s former owners until Valentine’s Day.
Meadville Medical Center did not buy the hospital but they have finalized the acquisition of several Mercer County medical clinics.
