Man Arrested for Robbing Graveyard
Greenville – A Greenville man remains in Mercer County Jail, unable to pay $75,000 in bail after being arrested for the November 14th theft of bronze flower vases and veteran’s grave markers. 36-year-old Cody James Brown allegedly stole more than 50 bronze flower vases, each valued at $300, and an undisclosed amount of veteran’s grave markers, then defaced them with a grinder to sell as scrap. He was arrested Friday and charged with receiving stolen property, theft or sale of venerated objects, desecration, and about half a dozen traffic offenses. Greenville Police say that they have security footage of Brown bringing multiple loads of scrapped bronze to the Greenville Recycling Center in November and then again in January and that they recovered at least one bucket of scrap bronze from the crime.
