Medical Emergency Causes Crash
Girard – A 79-year-old Pittsburgh woman was hospitalized in Erie County last Wednesday after her medical emergency caused a vehicular collision. On Meadville Road near the town of Girard, investigators say that Sue Haney suffered a medical episode and drove her SUV into a van at around 9 a.m. Sue was taken to UPMC Hamot for injuries sustained in the crash and for her other emergency, but nobody else was injured in the crash. The Pennsylvania State Police says they will not file charges related to this case.

Pet Food Recall Issued
Statesville, NC – Pet food that was sold in New York and Pennsylvania has been recalled due to contamination with Salmonella and Listeria. Blue Ridge Beef has issued a voluntary recall on two-pound logs of natural puppy and kitten mix that are contaminated with the bacteria that could sicken both the pets and their owners; even pets that are not sickened by Salmonella or Listeria can pass the diseases on to humans. The recall affects lot number N25 1230 of puppy mix and lot number N26 0114 of kitten mix.
