Drive-Thru Worker Charged for Credit Theft
Hermitage – Last week, Brittany Burin of Hermitage was charged with access device fraud after an investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police. According to police, Burin, who worked at a drive-thru, would take photographs of people’s credit or debit cards and send them to someone else. Unauthorized charges appeared on the victim’s cards the same day. Police say they have surveillance video showing Burin in the act, a witness to the crimes, and a confession.
AG Sunday Reminds PA Residents About 23andMe Bankruptcy
Harrisburg – Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday wants to warn residents who were affected by the 23andMe data breach of 2023 that July 14th is the deadline to file proof of their claims ahead of the company’s bankruptcy. Impacted consumers may file a claim electronically and obtain more information about the bankruptcy online here. AG Sunday also warns that any 23andMe customer’s data could be sold as an asset under the bankruptcy proceedings. 23andMe declared bankruptcy in March; customers who are concerned about the sale of their profile and genetic data can delete their information in their account settings.
