Public Lewdness at Pool
Meadville – A 25-year-old Meadville man was charged with crimes for public lewdness and indecency after allegedly pleasuring himself at a public swimming pool. According to the Meadville Police Department, on Saturday, May 10th, calls were received about a man performing a lewd act in front of dozens of witnesses while standing in a pool at the MARC. They say Marco Whitney was performing the action in front of a pool jet and told officers he had gone back to his old ways. He’s been charged with disorderly conduct and open lewdness.

School to Furlough Seven Teachers to Pay for Track
Stoneboro – Mercer County’s Lakeview School District may be forced to reduce its teaching staff by as much as 10% in order to afford to pay for repairs to its running track and the roofs of its schools. Superintendent Keith Wolfe says a special board meeting will be held on Tuesday, the 26th, to determine which teachers will have to be furloughed by the district before the 2025-2026 school budget is finalized. Originally, the school board recommended letting go of 15 teachers, but after some retirements, the number was reduced to seven; the district is also removing its assistant middle and high school principals.

Man Shoots Gun in Home
Cochranton – A Cochranton man was arrested for discharging a firearm in someone’s home. The Pennsylvania State Police reported that a man was arrested on Saturday after troopers were called on for a welfare check. They reported that he had used a firearm to damage a mirror and two windows of a home during a mental health emergency, and took him into custody. Court records revealed his name is Raheem Young, he has only been charged with a misdemeanor for criminal mischief.

Officer Airlifted from Crash
Bessemer – A police Officer from Ohio was airlifted to a hospital after crashing in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, on Sunday. The Pennsylvania State Police report that at 9 p.m. on Sunday night, a 30-year-old officer from the New Middletown Police Department was part of a vehicular pursuit that spilled from Ohio into Pennsylvania when he lost control of his cruiser on the intersection of Mohawk School Road and East Poland Road and crashed into a building. He was taken by STAT Medevac to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown. There was no report about the chase or the suspect.

Cucumber Recall in PA
Boynton Beach, FL – You might want to toss your cucumbers. Bedner Growers Incorporated of Boynton Beach, Florida, has issued a recall on cucumbers sold in Pennsylvania, New York, and Ohio between April 29th and May 14th for contamination by Salmonella. The cucumbers have been linked to illnesses in over 25 people in 15 states, according to the FDA. The cucumbers have been sold under multiple brands after being distributed to wholesalers around the US. More information is available at FDA.gov.
