Inmate Assaults Guards in Venango County Jail
Franklin – Three guards at Venango County Jail were injured when they were assaulted by an inmate in late April. In details only recently made public, officers from the Franklin Police Department say that on April 24th, Joshua Eck attacked three guards while they were escorting him to a holding cell at Venango County Jail. Eck became combative and tried to drag one of the officers into the cell with him, and he kicked two other officers, causing injuries to their arms and necks. Eck has a long history of assault and disorderly conduct and has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault.
Fireman’s Benefit on Sunday
Meadville – On Sunday, West Meade Volunteer Fire Department No. 2 is holding a benefit to raise funds to help the recovery of an injured fireman. Mick Lilly is on the long road to recovery after suffering severe neck and shoulder injuries during an off-duty accident in May. Mick was a volunteer firefighter for 20 years before he became a full-time member of Meadville’s Fire Department. The benefit dinner takes place this Sunday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at West Meade 2 Fire Hall, entrance requires a mere $10 donation per person. Dinner will include pulled pork, macaroni salad, baked beans, and dessert. There will be several raffles and associated games to raise funds.
