Man Flown from Crash Site
Cherry Tree – According to the Pennsylvania State Police, a 73-year-old man was hospitalized after being thrown from his vehicle last Tuesday. On Friday, the Pennsylvania State Police based in Franklin reported that Frank Ochs of Leeper was ejected from his truck when it crashed on Route 8 near the village of Cherry Tree at about 7:45 on the morning of Tuesday, July 8th. Mr. Ochs was taken by helicopter to UPMC Hamot in Erie, where they said he was in stable condition.
According to the crash report, Frank was driving slowly and pulled over to the side of the road to allow other vehicles to pass him. When he tried to get back on the road his vehicle lost traction in mud, causing the crash.

Second Investigation Opens Into MPD Arrest
Meadville – The City of Meadville Police Department has contacted an outside party to perform their own investigation into Friday’s incident on Baldwin Street, where an officer was caught on video striking a shirtless man during an arrest. PMG Investigations of Edinboro, headed by former FBI Agent George Gast, will be performing an independent Use of Force Review parallel to the City’s own investigation. PMG and MPD will both share the results of their investigations with Crawford County District Attorney Paula DiGiacomo. The City of Meadville committed to providing updates about both investigations.
The Arrestee is now known to be 33-year-old Nathan Koman. Police say that there was a warrant for his arrest on felony drug charges and that he was allegedly under the influence and in possession of methamphetamine during his arrest.
