Fake Nurse Charged in Battery of Offenses
Pittsburgh – In State News, a woman has been charged with multiple felonies for using stolen identities and fake credentials to work as a nurse in multiple PA counties. According to authorities, Shannon Nichole Womack is wanted in several other states for the same crimes she faces here: identity theft, forgery, corrupt organizations, and endangering the welfare of care-dependent persons. Since last year, Womack has allegedly defrauded nine facilities across western Pennsylvania to work in Allegheny, Beaver, Bradford, Erie, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties, and has been committing similar crimes in several other states since 2020; Womack does not have a license to practice nursing in any state.
According to investigators from the Pennsylvania State Police, Womack used at least 11 fake names and seven stolen social security numbers to secure jobs around the eastern United States. She was terminated from each of her jobs in the state within 10 shifts for misconduct, including the theft of medications and neglecting patients.
