PA Primaries
Pennsylvania – Today is the Pennsylvania Primary Election Day; polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. 
Members of the two major political parties will select their candidates for the November midterm elections. The biggest race in the state is for Governor of Pennsylvania, and candidates are also being selected for all state and federal representatives, along with some State Senators. While there are no state constitutional amendments this year, local municipalities may have ordinances or other orders of business of interest to Independent and Third Party voters.
Remember that if you are voting at your polling place for the first time, Pennsylvania law requires you to have identification. Preferred photo IDs include a passport, driver’s license, military ID, or state ID card. The registration card provided by your county voting office is the preferred form of non-photo ID. Mercer County Food Bank Expands
Mercer – Mercer County Food Bank celebrated the openings of its two new school food pantries with ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Thursday. MCB opened its 12th and 13th school food pantries at Mercer Middle School and Wilmington Jr/Sr High School. These food banks, strategically located inside schools, help thousands of students receive nutritious food to eat five days a week. The school food banks are replacing the old weekend backpack model as a more effective means to help Mercer County’s 4,200 food-insecure children. Mercer County Food Bank is a member of Feeding America and distributes 3 million pounds of food a year. CC Planning Welcomes New Deputy Director
Meadville – Crawford County Planning has welcomed a new Deputy Director to the organization, Jerry Millaird Jr. Jerry is a native of northern Venango County who spent much of his childhood visiting and enjoying Crawford County’s bountiful attractions. A veteran of the US Air Force, Jerry decided that municipal work was the best way he could serve his community after serving his country. He will be working in the subdivision and land development ordinance (SALDO) division.
