A group called East Palestine Justice is reaching out with resources for those impacted by the toxic train derailment.  The organization held their first town hall in Beaver County yesterday, providing legal information and guidance on how area residents can get their concerns addressed.  Attorney Mikal Watts led the discussion, advising those who think they have been affected to get blood, urine, and DNA tests done.  Watts is affiliated with environmental activist Erin Brockovich.  She is expected to attend another meeting the group is planning at Blackhawk High School on the 23rd.

President Joe Biden is coming to the Commonwealth today. Biden is set to release his budget proposal in Philadelphia at a union hall. Budget roll outs are usually done at the White House but with reelection a possibility next year, Biden has chosen to release the plan while physically on the ground with voters in Pennsylvania.

The president of a Beaver Falls mineral company pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court to a charge of filing a false income tax return.  Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced yesterday that Paul J. Austin pled guilty to one count.  Austin has agreed to pay the IRS nearly 160 thousand dollars plus interest.  Sentencing is for July 19th .The law provides for a maximum sentence of three years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.

One of the items Governor Josh Shapiro introduced in his proposed state budget Tuesday is a tax that would be charged if marijuana is legalized. He says an “adult use cannabis tax” would be up for discussion if recreational pot becomes a reality in the state. The governor says he foresees a 20 percent tax on wholesale prices if sales would begin as early as 2025.

State Police in Butler County have arrested a man on strangulation charges.  Police said the incident took place this past Saturday morning in East Butler Boro. 30 year old Johnathan Wells of Marion Center faces charges of simple assault and harassment along with the strangulation charges.  The victim is a 19 year old female from Butler. Wells was placed in the Butler County Jail.

A large fight at Rivers Casino has several people facing charges.  Both state and Pittsburgh police were called to the scene around 1:15 a.m. Monday morning where they found several people in a physical fight.  During the fight, Brianna Grabowsky allegedly punched a state trooper in the face while Darnel Robert Hall punched the walls several times when he was being questioned by security.  Several others are facing charges.

The chair of the NTSB says she is planning to visit the communities of East Palestine Ohio and Darlington Township in Beaver County.  The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating last month’s derailment of a train carrying hazardous chemicals in Columbiana County. Chair Jennifer Homendy says she expects her trip to the area to take place before the end of the month.

The Pennsylvania Senate voted Wednesday to confirm Michelle Henry as Pennsylvania’s Attorney General.  Henry, who has been a public servant and served as the former First Deputy Attorney General, has been serving as the acting AG since Josh Shapiro took over as Pennsylvania’s Governor in January.  Just days after Shapiro took office as Governor he nominated Henry to serve as AG until the end of his term.  With her being confirmed, she will now stay Attorney General until the next general election in 2024.

Ambridge School Board members are approving some form of discipline for the middle school girl accused of attacking a teacher last week.  The board voted in favor of an agenda item called “discipline agreement” at their meeting last night.  Superintendent Joseph Pasquerilla says the district is required to keep student matters confidential and he cannot share details on what administrator actions include. It was previously reported that the teacher had to be hospitalized following the incident.
