The Pennsylvania State Police announced the Wednesday arrest of Jonathan King of Oil City for charges related to child rape. King is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy while the two were riding ATVs in a remote corner of Venango County in mid-August.  Though only 21, King had recently been released from prison for statutory sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl when the new allegations were made.

Some area police forces have received hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants from the state this year. The City of Meadville announced yesterday that MPD was awarded nearly $450,000 through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency Local Law Enforcement Support Grant Program. The money will be used for body cameras, tech upgrades, and specialty training for officers. Slippery Rock University recently received $850,000 from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program to construct a new HQ for campus police and improve its ROTC program. Between the money awarded this year and last, SRU has received $1.6 million for the project.
