A man was killed in Venango County when his car collided with a dead deer left laying on the road. It was shortly before 4AM on Tuesday when 69-year-old Lawrence Deluco of Union City hit the dead animal on State Route 8 in Victory Township; his vehicle drove off the left side of the roadway and the driver’s side impacted a guide rail and killed Mr. Deluco. Animal carcasses on the roadway are dangerous obstacles that can cause a crash which may be deadly. Pennsylvania authorities will remove dead animals from roadways if alerted to their presence; on highways managed by the state (State Routes, US Routes, and the interstate) contact PennDOT at (1-800)FIX-ROAD (349-7623); for other roads contact the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

The National Weather Service has now issued several warnings and watches for wind and snow ahead of Christmas across the entire Northwest Pennsylvania Region. A large arctic front traveling through the midwest and Central United States will reach our region on Friday, causing a snap freeze, it will bring with it strong winds, snow, and the lowest recorded Christmastime temperatures in decades. Operation Weather Alert will have more details.

In State News, Pennsylvania’s Attorney General has announced charges against a city Treasurer. Antoinette Hodge is the treasurer of Uniontown in Fayette County, she allegedly stole more than $100,000 from the city’s coffers for her own use.
