Man Arrested After Breakin
Union City – A Union City man was arrested Friday after allegedly breaking into a home while wielding a pipe and trying to find someone. Court records show that Edward Vettenburg faces charges of burglary, assault, and more after allegedly menacing a 51-year-old woman; despite his temperament and being armed, she was able to persuade him to leave and he was arrested later that night. The person he was allegedly searching for was not there.
State Loans Money for Greenville Development
Greenville – The Department of Community and Economic Development has approved a $1.7 million loan for Pittsburgh-based By-Product Industries to open a new facility in Greenville. The planned 250,000-square-foot facility is expected to create at least 22 full-time jobs within three years. By-Product industries goes by BPI and specialized in processing minerals for industrial applications. BPI currently has three plants in Western PA including locations in Newcastle and McKees Rocks.
Governor Issues Budget Address
Harrisburg – Yesterday, Governor Josh Shapiro issued his first official budget address to the state legislature. Major points hit on by the governor in his $44 billion proposal were plans to expand the Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program, eliminate the State’s cell phone tax, increase education budgets, and raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
