One Killed in Crash
Shenango Township – A man is dead, and a woman and two children were hospitalized after a Tuesday evening crash in Crawford County’s Shenango Township. 30-year-old Paul Hamill of Jamestown suffered fatal injuries after being ejected from the 1996 Dodge Ram he had been driving as it rolled along South Lake Road. Two of three passengers suffered minor injuries including a 34-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl while an 11-year-old boy was unharmed, but all three passengers were hospitalized at Meadville Medical Center.

RM Palmer Sued for Wrongful Death of Employee
West Reading – RM Palmer Company is facing a new lawsuit related to a factory explosion that killed and injured 17 employees last month. The family of Judith Lopez-Moran has filed a wrongful death suit alleging that the explosion was foreseeable because employees had complained of a gas odor for several days before it happened, but nothing was done to reconcile the problem. The Cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

PSP Easter Enforcement Period
Harrisburg – The Pennsylvania State Police report that they responded to 410 motor vehicle crashes over Easter Weekend; of those 410 crashes four were fatal events and 110 of them resulted in injuries, PSP also reports that 31 of the crashes involved alcohol or drugs. During the Easter enforcement period, 5,344 speeding citations were issued and 329 arrests were made for Driving Under the Influence.

Woman Confesses to Murder of Son
Horsham – In Montgomery County, a woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 11-year-old son. According to authorities Ruth DiRienzo-Whitehead confessed to police that she strangled her child Matthew to death with a belt as he slept on Monday night and fled to New Jersey. She was arrested in New Jersey after her SUV was found partially submerged in the ocean. The murder wasn’t discovered until Tuesday morning when her husband found their son locked in his room.
