Police in Mercer County have charge a Grove City man with sexual assault of a minor. WFMJ-TV reports 26 year old Richard Daniels is being charged with two counts of indecent assault and sexual abuse of a minor. The alleged incident took place back on March 26th.  Daniels was taken to the Mercer County Jail at that time. A formal arraignment for Daniels is set for June 13.

The deadline to apply to vote by mail in the municipal primary is less than a month away.  Acting Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt is reminding voters of the May 9th deadline.  Anyone wanting to vote by mail should apply for a “no-excuse” absentee ballot.  You can find more information and download an application at vote.pa.gov.       

A Farrell man has pled guilty in U.S. District Court to being part of a drug distribution conspiracy.  Acting U.S. Attorney Tony Drivetti announced 32 year old Khiry Whiteside pled guilty to conspiring to distribute fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine. The law provides for a sentence of up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $2,000,000. A number of law enforcement agencies from Mercer and Lawrence Counties assisted in the investigation.  Setencing has been set for August of this year.    

A Butler County lottery player has struck it rich this week in the Pennsylvania Lottery’s Nest Egg fast-play game.  The individual played the game Tuesday at the Good Guys Mini Mart in Butler and won one-point-three-million dollars.  Good Guys collects a 10-thousand dollar bonus for being the store where the progressive prize was won.

Hotel giant Marriott is ordered to pay Pennsylvania 225-thousand dollars after a ruling this week.  According to court documents, Marriott failed to inform customers of “hidden” resort fees, a stipulation of a 2021 settlement.  Attorney General Michelle Henry says Marriott has been given multiple extensions and missed a February deadline to comply.  Now the hotel chain must pay the fee and be in compliance with the earlier settlement requirements by May 15th.    

Two people were taken to the hospital following an accident in Mercer County. State Police report the crash took place on Liberty Street in Pine Township. Both drivers were taken to the Allegheny Health Network in Grove City. No other details were released.

State Police in Beaver County are investigating the death of a 40 year old woman. Police said they responded to a call in an apartment complex on Sheffield Street in Aliquippa early yesterday morning and found the woman deceased. No foul play is suspected at this time. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.  

Retail chain Target is bringing back their annual car seat trade-in program next week.  Guests can take old or damaged baby seats to participating stores for recycling beginning this Sunday.  In exchange, customers will receive a 20 percent off coupon good toward a new seat, stroller, or other select baby item.  The company says they have recycled more than two million car seats since launching the program in 2016.

The Sharon Herald is reporting a Farrell man is accused of stealing more than $40,000 worth of items, including stained glass windows, from a Sharon church. 63 year old John Thomas Jackson Sr., is charged with burglary, institutional vandalism, theft, and trespass. The alleged incident took place at the Temple of Praise Church of God in Christ on Sharpsville Ave. A preliminary hearing is set for tomorrow.

Officials at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport are looking for volunteers to participate in a disaster drill next month.  The federally-mandated training is planned on May 10th and will simulate a plane crash, according to an airport spokesperson.  Manager Moe Haas says they will use school buses to simulate the fuselage of a plane and volunteers will play victims that emergency responders are tasked with rescuing.  Those who would like to participate can fill out paperwork that is available by searching palmer-airport-dot-com.
