Hit and Run Crash Kills Man
East Springfield – A 25-year-old East Springfield resident is in custody and awaiting arraignment for charges stemming from a fatal hit and run accident early last Thursday morning. Shortly after midnight on Wednesday night, a 41-year-old West Springfield man whose name has not been revealed hit a deer while riding his motorcycle on Ridge Road in Springfield Township, Erie County. While waiting for assistance he was hit and fatally injured by a van allegedly driven by the suspect who then left the scene and was found by police at a nearby residence at about 12:40 AM (twenty minutes to one in the morning).

PennDOT Work Plans include I-80 Closure
Oil City – Portions of the westbound travel lane of Interstate 80 in Mercer County’s East Lackawannock township will be closed this week while patching operations are being performed. The work will take place near the I-79 Interchange while weather permits and the passing lane will open as a single traffic lane. PennDOT’s scheduled road work in the region for the week of June 12th can be found at PennDOT.gov/District1.
