Judge Denies Major Defense Motion in Bowers Trial
Pittsburgh – The judge presiding over the sentencing of convicted Tree of Life Synagogue Shooter Robert Bowers has refused his defense attorney’s request to exhume the body of Bowers’s father Randall. The defense is attempting to prove that Bowers is mentally unfit for the death penalty; Randall Bowers was diagnosed with Schizophrenia before he committed suicide and the defense wanted to exhume his body in an attempt to prove it was inherited by his son. In mid-June, Bowers was convicted of 63 charges including the murder of 11 people and hate crimes for the October 2018 Tree of Life Synagogue attack.
