PSP Begins Trial of Body Cameras
Carlisle – On Monday, the Pennsylvania State Police began their first phase of rolling out their body camera program. The program is beginning with a 60-day trial run by the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks in Carlisle. PSP Carlisle’s Troopers will be the first in the commonwealth to wear body cameras into the field so that the State Police can determine best practices and identify what they believe will be their software and equipment needs before a wider roll-out of body cameras begins next year. While announcing the beginning of the program Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Christopher Paris said “The public rightfully expects their interactions with police be safe, respectful, and constitutional, and I believe the use of body-worn cameras demonstrates that the Pennsylvania State Police is committed to providing faithful and honest law enforcement services,”
