Crash Hospitalizes Texas Woman
Edinboro – A Fort Worth Texas Woman was hospitalized after a crash on Interstate 79 in Erie County. The woman, who was not named in the crash report, collided with a guardrail on 79 North just a mile or two beyond the Edinboro Exit yesterday afternoon. She was taken to UPMC Hamot under the suspicion that she had suffered serious injuries.

DA Imprisoned for Sexual Assault
Somerville – The former District Attorney of Somerset County was sentenced to two to seven years in State Prison and will be a registered sex offender for 15 years for the 2021 indecent assault and strangulation of a Windber woman. Jeffrey Thomas was convicted of the attack in May. Thomas attempted to use his position to coerce a woman into a sexual relationship with him and when she resisted he broke into her home and forced himself onto her. He also faces domestic abuse charges and has yet to be on trial for those.

Pottstown – A first-grade student from Pennsylvania won first prize in the 2023 Kid Mullet Competition. Six-year-old Rory Ehrlich of Montgomery County won first place nationally among 900 junior contestants and earned a prize of $5,000. The Mullet Championship is an annual competition that benefits charities.
Harrisburg – A Republican State Representative plans to introduce legislation to regulate children who are social media influencers. Torren Ecker, who represents portions of Adams and Cumberland Counties, is concerned about the effects of childhood celebrity and wants to ensure that childhood influencers are protected under the Commonwealth’s child labor laws.

LIHWAP provides assistance for families that could lose sewer or drinking water service due to financial hardship, apply at dhs.pa.gov/COMPASS or your county assistance office.
