Earthquake Felt Across NWPA
Madison, OH – Three small earthquakes have literally rocked the region since last Thursday, the largest of which was a Sunday night quake that registered between 3.5 and 3.7 on the Richter scale and was detected as far south as Pittsburgh and Youngstown. The so-called big quake could be felt by residents in Erie, Linesville, and Greenville and possibly further west at about 10:45 PM Sunday night and originated at a fault near Madison, Ohio. The two other smaller quakes were registered at about a 2.0 on the Richter scale and were barely perceptible; they also originated from Madison with the first happening on Thursday, and the second was a closely following aftershock of Sunday night’s bigger tremor.
Gun Carrying Teen Cancels High School Football Game
Abington – Last Friday night saw the opening day of High School Football Season across Pennsylvania and it mostly went off without a hitch except for one school in Montgomery County. Abington High School in a suburb of Philadelphia had to cancel their season opener when a student arrived at the game with a loaded handgun; the student is a minor who has not been publicly identified and was arrested by police, but school officials canceled the game out of safety concerns.
