Rustic Ridge Explosion Update
Plum – The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection may have ruled out stray natural gas migration as a cause for the explosion that killed six people in Allegheny County in August. The DEPs findings are consistent with normal readings of natural gas around the area of the explosion. Allegheny County’s Fire Marshals have narrowed their search to a cause for the explosion down to the home itself, but a cause for the blast isn’t yet discovered. On August 12th, a house in the Rustic Ridge neighborhood in the town of Plum exploded in the early morning, killing six people and destroying three other homes while damaging about a dozen others.
