The New Castle News is reporting Narcotics Officers in Lawrence County have filed charges in an April drug raid.   An arrest warrant has been issued for 51 year old Chad Hess of Beaver Falls.   Agents raided an apartment on Loop Street back on April 27th, where Hess was the occupant of the apartment.  He is charged with four counts each of possession with intent to deliver controlled substances and prohibited possession of firearms, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Four people were taken to the hospital following a three vehicle accident in Pulaski Township.  State Police report 29 year old Katherine Velez-Perez of Youngtown was traveling at a high rate of speed on route 422 and struck a vehicle from behind that was stopped in a construction zone. That vehicle struck the vehicle in front of it.  Velez-Perez and three children, who police said were improperly secured, where taken to UPMC Jameson for treatment.  

Dave McCormick, the former hedge fund CEO who fell less than 1,000 votes short of winning the 2022 Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate, will soon announce a second campaign for the U.S. Senate.  The announcement is expected to come in the next few weeks.  McCormick, would be the first Republican to enter the race after State Senator and former gubernatorial nominee Doug Mastriano opted not to run.

The search for an escaped murderer in Pennsylvania is over after Danelo Cavalcante was taken into custody yesterday morning.  Pennsylvania State Police say Cavalcante was captured around 8:15 in South Coventry Township in northern Chester County after being found hiding in a field under a pile of logs.

No one is hurt following a fire at a chemical plant in Washington County.  Crews were called to the Reaxis Specialty Chemical building on Robinson Highway around 9 o’clock last night.  Dispatchers say the blaze involved a one-thousand-gallon hydrochloric acid tank inside the structure.  Officials said the fire was out by around 9:40, but, they stayed on the scene to take of any possible flare-ups.

   A state representative from Philadelphia is entering a crowded primary race to become the state’s next attorney general.  Democrat Jared Solomon, who is also a Reserve JAG officer in the Army, was first elected to the State House ten years ago.  Three other Democratic candidates and one Republican have previously announced they’re also running for the post.  Current Attorney General Michelle Henry has said she will not run again.  She replaced Josh Shapiro when he was elected Governor.

A Washington County woman is facing charges after her days old baby died.  Police say they were called to a Chess Street apartment in Monongahela yesterday for a report of an infant not breathing.  Dispatch says the baby’s mother, 22-year-old Darian Helmantoler, refused to do CPR, was not communicative with dispatchers, and said she may have rolled onto the baby while she was sleeping.  She is facing several charges including criminal homicide and aggravated assault.

– A home health aide in Allegheny County is free on bond today as he faces allegations that he raped a coworker.  The victim tells police that, on August 22nd, she was assisting one resident of a Pine apartment complex while suspect Shade Jenkins was helping another.  At one point during the day’s events, both workers were in the same apartment together and, according to the victim, Jenkins raped her.  He is facing charges including rape and sexual assault.  His next court appearance is scheduled for later this month.
