One man and two teenagers are each being held in the Mercer County Jail on $1 million each in connection with Tuesday’s shooting at a Sharon Home. WFMJ-TV reports the arrests come following the shooting of Ivory Rose Marie Daniels, who was wounded in the face at a home on Leslie Street just after 2 a.m. Authorities say Daniels is hospitalized and is expected to survive. 36-year-old Thomas Shank, Jr. of Sharon, as well as two 17-year-olds, Cory Blough and Kiwi Minich have been charged as adults in the case. A court hearing has been set for September 29th.
Police in Beaver Falls are searching for a missing man. Authorities are asking for help from the public in locating 66-year-old Joseph Anthony Mader the Third. He is described as standing five feet, eleven inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. Officials have not provided additional details on his disappearance. Anyone with information on Mader’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Beaver Falls Police Department.
Two parents in Venango Township are facing charges for allegedly abusing their three-month-old child. State police were called to Grove City Hospital in Mercer County this past Sunday after medical staff reported possible child abuse. Authorities say the baby boy was flown to UPMC Children’s, where doctors found several serious injuries, including a broken femur. The infant’s parents, Destiny Valimont and Dustin Snyder, knew about the injuries on Friday but did not immediately seek medical attention, according to investigators.
State lawmakers are facing pressure to change the date of the spring primary in 2024. The primary is currently scheduled for April 23rd, which is during the Jewish holiday of Passover. Governor Josh Shapiro, who is Jewish, has called for lawmakers to move the election to avoid the holiday. In addition, some lawmakers have been pressing to get the primary moved earlier in the year to give the state a more significant role in determining presidential nominees.
A statement released by Rivers Casino Pittsburgh says the venue will comply with whatever the Commonwealth mandates when it comes to a suggested smoking ban at Pennsylvania casinos. State legislators in Harrisburg yesterday heard testimony from members of a group called Casino Employees Against Smoking Effects who want smoking banned in casinos. Pennsylvania’s Clean Indoor Air Act bans smoking in most public allowances with certain exceptions carved out including casinos.
A Butler man was flown to a Pittsburgh Hospital following a two vehicle accident in Clay Township. State Police report 31 year old Johnathan Faith was operating a motorcycle on Euclid Road when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 18 year old Faith Howdyshell also of Butler. Faith was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with serious injuries. Howdyshell was not hurt.

Writers at the site dedicated to online privacy looked at the country’s most-populated cities and considered factors including internet quality, gaming culture and the availability of video game stores in putting their list together. Pittsburgh came in at number 11 on the list of best U.S. cities for gamers with New York City at number 1.
President Biden has ordered the appointment of a federal coordinator to supervise recovery efforts in East Palestine The community is continuing to work its way back after a train carrying hazardous chemicals derailed there in February of this year. Biden’s executive order, signed yesterday, will have that coordinator tasked with conducting a comprehensive assessment of any unmet needs that are not addressed by Norfolk Southern and that would qualify for federal assistance.
– In Beaver County, District Attorney David Lozier is warning the public about a drug called xylazine Xylazine is an animal tranquilizer that some have used with, or as a substitute for, fentanyl. Lozier yesterday reported that two people who recently died were found to have the drug, also known as tranq, in their system. The D.A.’s office reports that Narcan cannot reverse a xylazine overdose. State officials earlier this year moved to temporarily reschedule xylazine as a controlled substance.
