Police Search for Break-In Suspect
Grove City – The Pennsylvania State Police in Mercer County are asking for anyone who may have witnessed one of a string of thefts from vehicles in Grove City to contact them. On Friday, December 29th, several cars were broken into and items stolen from inside them; the primary suspect is described as a young man in his twenties with a skinny build. Anybody with information is urged to call the Pennsylvania State Police in Mercer at (724)662-6162.
ABCs of Meadville
Meadville – The City of Meadville is still looking for applications from residents willing to serve on one of the borough’s volunteer boards and commissions; there are currently three vacancies on the Beautification Committee and one on the Water Authority. Applications can be obtained in person at the Meadville City Building at the Diamond or found online through the link that will appear on our website when this story is published. Elderly Couple Hospitalized After Crash
McKean – Authorities in Erie County report that an elderly McKean couple was hospitalized after a crash on Sunday morning. 81-year-old Sarah Ellsworth and her 83-year-old Husband Gerald were both not using seatbelts when Sarah lost control of their van on slippery roads at about 10 a.m. The van rolled onto its side, partially ejecting the driver through the window, and her husband fell on top of her. Mrs. Ellsworth was transported to UPMC Hamot with serious injuries, Mr. Ellseworth was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Rent Strike at Senior Living Nieghborhood
Cranberry – In Butler County, over 100 residents of Oak Springs Mobile Home Park in Cranberry Township are protesting a rent increase by the new ownership of 42%. The community is for senior citizens aged 55 and older and many of them are on fixed incomes. In November a Miami Florida-based company named COARE Communities purchased the mobile home park and in December gave residents only two week’s notice of the massive rent increase. 118 residents are signatories of a letter demanding that the increase be reduced from its sky-high levels.
