Poaching Charges Dropped Against Mercer County Man
Mercer – Poaching related charges against Chase Cominsky were dropped last Thursday, according to the Mercer County Clerk’s Office. Cominsky was convicted of fraud last May when he cheated to win a fishing competition in Cleveland and convicted of theft by deception in December for using fake $100 bills at a bowling alley in Hermitage and is serving a six to 12 month sentence for that crime. No reason was given for the dismissal of charges for unlawful killing or taking of big game. 

Burglary Witnesses Sought
Centerville – The Pennsylvania State Police are asking for help in their investigation of a burglary that happened last year in Crawford County. On December 30th, troopers began their investigation into the break-in of a home on Kuberry Road, near Riceville and Canadohta Lake in Sparta Township. A Makita brand circular saw, some money, and a purse were stolen from the residence while the family was away. Anybody who may have information about this crime should contact the Pennsylvania State Police in Corry at (814)663-2043.

State News, Child Rape Sentencing
Bedford – A Bedford County man was sentenced to as many as 14 years in State Prison for child rape on Wednesday. 39-year-old Caleb Schweikarth must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life under SORNA, the Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act, PA’s version of Megan’s Law. Schweikarth had a close and trusted relationship with the family of the girl he was convicted of sexually assaulting last October and was able to leverage that position of trust to be alone with his victim in her own home on multiple occasions.
