Woman and Pig Suffer Minor Injuries in Plane Crash
Franklin – An out of state pilot and her mini pig were both injured when they crashed at the Venango Regional Airport on Monday. Shortly before 3:00 Monday afternoon a Cessna 150M missed the runway while making a landing approach and crashed into a grassy median near a taxiway. The pilot who remained unnamed was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of a leg wound and a miniature pig named Pig was taken to Precious Paws Animal Rescue, she had a bloody snout but no serious injuries. The crashed plane is a training aircraft registered to the MIT Flying Club, the same aircraft featured on the club’s webpage. The MIT Flying Club was formed to provide alumni of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with the ability to take flight classes at discounted rates.
Closings and Delays Ahead of Winter Storms
Western PA – A Winter Weather Advisory and a Winter Storm Warning for the region have led to several school closings and delays for this morning, you can check closings and delays at Operation Weather Alert. At press time Tier 1 restrictions were issued on Interstate 80 from the Ohio Border to the Logantown Exit, and Tier 2 restrictions were issued on Interstate 79 from Interstate 80 all the way to West Virginia and across the entire length of Interstate 376; check with 511PA online or over the phone for more information.
Tier 1 restrictions on PA Interstate Highways include reductions in speed limits to 45 miles per hour and prohibit the following vehicles; semi-truck tractors without trailers; semi-tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded enclosed trailers, open trailers or tank trailers; tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded tandem trailers; enclosed unloaded or lightly loaded cargo delivery trucks/box trucks that meet the definition of a CMV; passenger vehicles (cars, SUV’s, pickup trucks, etc.) towing trailers; recreational vehicles/motorhomes; school buses commercial buses and motor coaches without traction devices; and Motorcycles. Tier 2 restrictions include the same as the previous with the addition of all busses and all commercial vehicles towing loaded tandem trailers without chains or traction devices.
