State News: Several Missing After Fire
East Lansdowne – In a story that is still developing, six or eight people are unaccounted for after a shootout and a fire in the Philadelphia suburb of East Lansdowne. According to authorities, when police responded to a call about a child being shot Wednesday afternoon two officers were injured in an ambush by an unidentified assailant. As other officers from nearby departments in Delaware County responded to the distress calls and dragged the injured police away someone started a fire inside the residence. Firefighters were unable to fight the blaze because of the active shooter until the building was surrounded by SWAT and the block was evacuated.
According to local sources, both officers who were injured in the attack are expected to make full recoveries and fire inspectors plan to comb the building as soon as it is safe to do so.
