Murder Suspect Apprehended
Corry – A suspect was arrested for the murder of Rebekah Byler in Spartansburg. Shawn Cranston, a 52-year-old resident of Corry was arrested Friday night and charged with homicide, homicide of an unborn child, burglary, and trespassing. The Pennsylvania State Police allege that it was Cranston who attacked and killed Rebekah by shooting her and then slashing her throat last Monday, February 26th. He is being held in Crawford County Jail without a chance for bail and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for the 15th.
A source close to Cranston suggested that it may have been a case of mistaken identity; an Amish couple had adopted his grandchild and he may have been looking for them.

Identity of Dead Child Released
Erie – Zemina Smith is the name of the Toddler who was discovered dead on Thursday morning in Erie. She was discovered outside of an apartment building on East 16th Street at about 7 a.m. after police were called about a missing child. An autopsy was performed on Friday, but Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook has not determined an official cause for Zemina’s death and is awaiting the results from several laboratory tests. Erie’s Police are investigating the incident but do not suspect foul play, she was most likely killed by exposure.
