Man Assaults Woman, Cops, in Mercer County
Clarks Mills – Michael Sturgin of Clarks Mills has been charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, and other crimes after he allegedly attacked a 65-year-old woman for vacuuming. According to troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police based in Mercer, they were summoned when the 45-year-old became enraged and pushed a woman into a desk because she was cleaning. When police attempted to arrest Sturgin he fought back, causing injury to one of the troopers. Sturgin has a history of violence against women, in 2019 he was arrested for punching a woman in the face during an argument and then chasing her and two other women down to hold them at gunpoint. He is remanded to Mercer County Jail on $25,000 bail.

Fallen Officer Memorial
Erie – The Pennsylvania State Police in Erie are cordially inviting the public to attend their Fallen Officer Memorial Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 6th. The solemn event will honor officers of the Pennsylvania State Police who were killed in the line of duty and involves a memorial ceremony, troop drill, and a formal inspection. The Fallen Officer Ceremony will take place in the parking lot of the Erie State Police barracks, or in the case of inclement weather at the auditorium of Iroquois High School.
