One Dead, One Injured, in Erie Shooting
Erie – A man is dead and a woman is critically injured after a shooting in the city of Erie Tuesday morning. The Boro’s first homicide of 2024 appears to have been an argument after leaving a bar, the suspect Melvin Burnett was taken into custody within 10 minutes of the shooting of 35-year-old Deonte Tate and a 31-year-old woman whose identity is being protected. Burnett is charged with homicide, attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and related offenses.
Summer Job Program
Seneca – The Venango Training and Development Center is preparing its 10th annual summer jobs program for young Venango County residents. Teenagers and young adults between 16-21 years old can receive a week of work readiness training before moving on to 180 hours of paid employment at local businesses.
