Three Shootings in Single Town Memorial Day Weekend
Farrel – Multiple shootings were reported in the Mercer County town of Farrel over Memorial Day Weekend. The first shooting involved an altercation with a police officer outside of Luxx convenience store very early Friday morning, an armed bystander shot and wounded a man who fired at a police officer. While that first shooting was still being investigated someone fired shots at a house on Hamilton Avenue, investigation of that case is being handled by the State Police. And then on Sunday Morning Layonte Hammonds was shot and killed by a man named Yishmael Lee in the parking lot of the Elk’s Club at 2:30 in the morning; at press time Police were still searching for Lee who has been charged with first-degree homicide.

Trooper Suspended for Assault, Burglary
Connellsville – A Pennsylvania State Trooper has been charged with aggravated assault and burglary in Fayette County. James Stevenson Jr. of Connellsville was suspended without pay after his arrest for breaking into the home of a Fayette County man and beating him until he needed to be hospitalized. Court records indicate Stevenson has been released after posting bail.
