State Police Say Woman is Not Missing Girl from 1985
Cabot – The Pennsylvania State Police have determined that a woman claiming to be a girl who went missing from Butler County 39 years ago is not who she claimed to be. In late May, a woman on a Facebook Group dedicated to memorializing the missing child Cherrie Mahan claimed that she was, in fact, the missing girl. According to USA Today the woman also reached out to the Pennsylvania State Police and left a voicemail identifying herself with an address and phone number they could contact her at. However, when authorities tried to contact her at the number and address they couldn’t find her, but they compared Cherrie’s fingerprints with the fingerprints on file for the woman, they were not a match. The woman, whose name has not been revealed, has since been banned from the Facebook Group where she made the post.
