Man Dies After Motorcycle Crash
Hermitage – A 40-year-old man has died after a motorcycle crash near Hermitage Square Plaza on Sunday. Jeffery Hoffman of Hermitage succumbed to injuries he sustained in the crash at an area hospital. Crash scene investigators say Jeffery collided with a southbound vehicle that had left the plaza and entered the Shenango Valley Freeway, two of the other vehicle’s occupants were also taken to a hospital after being treated at the scene of the crash. At press time the crash is still under investigation and it is unknown if any charges will be filed.
Anthony Long Sentenced
Erie – On Friday, Anthony Long of Girard received a sentence of 6.5-13 years in State Prison for selling Fentanyl which led to the death of a woman in 2021. In May, Long was convicted of delivering the drugs that led to the death of 32-year-old Erica Mininger, he was also convicted of criminal use of a communications facility; manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture; and other crimes. Long will receive credit for the time he spent in jail during his trial, Assistant District Attornies Charles Cantrell and Tayler Moses handled the prosecution.
Details on Union City Explosion
Union City – More information has become available as authorities investigate the fireworks-related explosion that killed a Union City man. 55-year-old Michael Cross was killed when fireworks exploded in his garage on Sunday morning, he was a legally licensed professional who performed shows for businesses and towns. Firefighters had to contend with more explosions from professional-grade fireworks and gunpowder to recover his remains. There may still be active explosives and the public is urged to avoid the area of Hanlen Cross Road where fire marshals are investigating.
Meadville Summer Concert Series
Meadville – The Meadville Council of the Arts and Bush Investment Group have brought back their Summer Concert Series. All through the month of July, every Thursday night at 7 p.m. the gazebo in Diamond Park will host a live performance from a new band and the series ends with the Community Jam on August 1st. On Independence Day, the Summer Concert Series features House of Rythm; new bands will be featured on Thursdays, Charity Nuse and Friends July 11th, Jeff Fetterman Blues Band July 18th, and Better Late Bluegrass Band July 25th.
