Man Killed by Police Identified
Cranberry Township – Authorities in Butler County identified the man who was killed in a confrontation with police in Cranberry Township last week. 37-year-old Logan Cumberland of Ellwood City sparked a two-hour shelter in place advisory from the Cranberry Police Department last Tuesday afternoon after employees at a golf course reported the presence of an armed and incoherent man wandering the region. He was confronted and then killed by police officers in a small wooded area during an exchange of gunfire at around 3:10 p.m. that same day. The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the incident and details about the shooting have not been released.

Man Threatens Family with Knife
Oilc City – An Oil City man that court records call transient, has been charged with multiple crimes for a June 28th incident where he allegedly threatened a child and her family with a long knife. They say Paul Lapierre Jr. was arrested by local police after threatening an entire Oil City family and brandishing an 11-inch long knife during some kind of altercation with a child. The complaint against Lapierre details that he threatened to kick in the door of their home when they refused to let him inside and made multiple threats to kill the entire family, he specifically told the young girl he was going to wreck her and leave her for dead and told her to hang herself among his various threats. Lapierre was remitted to Mercer County Jail after failing to post bail for multiple summary and misdemeanor charges.

Bomb Threat Closed Capitol
Harrisburg – Pennsylvania’s capitol building was evacuated over the weekend after bomb threats were emailed to every member of the Pennsylvania General Assembly. Lawmakers were evacuated from the Pennsylvania Capitol Complex and Judicial Center on Saturday as they worked on creating a once again late state budget after a mass e-mail threatened that multiple explosive devices containing lead azide had been hidden around the capitol complex in “The name of Palestine”. A thorough search of the complex by police with bomb-sniffing dogs and devices did not find any explosives. An investigation into the origins of the threat is underway.
