Police Officer Hits House with Cruiser
Meadville – An investigation is underway in Meadville after a police officer crashed his cruiser into a home. At about 4:30 Sunday morning a Meadville City Police officer crashed into a house near the intersection of Mercer Street and Pennsylvania Avenue and smashed part of the foundation. Nobody who lives in the house was injured and the officer only suffered some scratches and bruises. Police Chief Michael Stefanucci says that the vehicle was totaled, and foggy weather may have been a factor in the crash. More information will be available when the investigation concludes.
Updates on Victims at Failed Trump Assassination
Butler – David Dutch, one of the two men who were injured during an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in Butler County, is no longer being kept in a medically induced coma according to the Marine Corps League of Pennsylvania. David, a retired United States Marine, was kept in a coma while surgeons performed multiple life-saving operations on his liver and chest on Sunday and Monday, he was released from the coma on Tuesday and is still hospitalized. There are no updates about the other victim, James Copenhager, his family has requested privacy.
Two Shootings Under Investigation
Erie – Authorities in Erie are investigating a shooting on Monday night that left a teenager with minor injuries. Officers from the Erie Police Department say that on Monday night someone fired a single bullet through the windshield of a car being driven by a 17-year-old girl; fortunately, the shot missed but the girl was cut on the face by glass from the windshield. They are also investigating multiple shots that were fired on the 1400 block of Lynn Street Sunday morning. 30 shell casings from weapons of multiple calibers were discovered at the scene by investigators and so far as can be told nobody was harmed.
Signal Work on Parkway
Meadville – Expect traffic delays in parts of Meadville today as maintenance work is performed on traffic signals along the French Creek Parkway. Work is set to begin at around 10 a.m. this morning and will last for several hours. Auxiliary Police will be on hand to control traffic at some intersections and the traffic signals will be flashing while they are worked on. Please use caution while traveling along the parkway and through intersections and be prepared to obey signals from traffic controllers.
